The safe handling of chemical products
I am pregnant ... can I paint? Is it always advisable to drink milk in case of poisoning? Crop spraying ... should I wear gloves, or not? Cleaning products aren't dangerous, are they? There's this strange gas odour in my cellar ... could there really be a danger of explosion? Questions and propositions that have so far not been given enough attention. IDEWE invites you to join us in putting safety first and foremost and 'handle hazardous products safely’. We have already drawn up a proposal for a stage plan.IDEWE intends to put hazardous products on the shop floor in the limelight. Hazardous products are substances that may cause danger to the safety and health of the people working at the company premises. Often we are not aware that a lot of these products can damage our health.
To support the stage plan, the following tools have been developed and are offered to you (free of charge). You can download the tools from this web site. If you want a printed version, you can contact your regional IDEWE branch:
- a brochure presenting a clear stage plan for identifying and dealing with the hazardous products in your company yourself
- informative posters intended to make everybody aware of the issue
- a risk indicator explaining the danger symbols used
- an inventory of your chemicals
- a safety instruction card: blank and example
