Frequently Asked Questions
Drunken employee
What should an employee do when he/she sees that a colleague is drinking or under the influence?
If he/she sees that a colleague is drinking or under the influence, this is best reported to the executive staff or personnel manager, who will call in the help of the prevention consultant/occupational physician or the prevention consultant psycho-social aspects.
For any further information, please contact your prevention consultant-occupational physician, your prevention consultant psycho-social aspects or your regional IDEWE-IBEVE secretariat.
What should an employer do when he/she sees that one of his employees is drinking or under the influence?
If an employer sees that someone is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, he/she will send that person home in a safe way. The following day, the employer will address this person regarding his functioning problem.
Being under the influence must not be proven by tests. Determining the drunkenness suffices to take measures.
As of April 1st the new CBA no.100 is valid. This means that the employer is compelled to introduce and adopt an alcohol and drugs policy in his company.
If you require further information, please contact your local IDEWE-IBEVE office.
