Safety related function and function involving increased vigilance
When does one have a safety related function?
An employee has a safety related function when he/she holds one of the following positions:
  • where use is made of industrial means;
  • where motor vehicles, cranes, roller bridges, lifting gear or machines driving dangerous installations/appliances are being used;
  • where weapons are carried.
… in as far as this endangers the safety and health of other employees of the enterprise or of external enterprises.

What is a function involving increased vigilance?
A function involving increased vigilance is any position which:
  • involves permanent surveillance of the operation of an installation and
  • where a lack of vigilance during the performance of this surveillance might endanger the safety and health of other employees of the enterprise or of external enterprises.
For example, operators in operating rooms for complex installations.
