SIOD flash inspections in 2026

In its Action Plan for 2025-2026, the Social Intelligence and Investigation Service (SIOD) concentrates on addressing welfare fraud and social dumping, while also valuing employees’ physical and mental integrity. This will be reflected in the flash inspections scheduled for the coming year.

Workplace safety is key

Whereas previous social inspections often involved administrative Dimona and Limosa checks, the 2026-2027 action plan places much more focus on employee wellbeing. To that end, SIOD is collaborating with MWW, the Inspectorate for Monitoring Wellbeing at Work. The Inspectorate will be stricter in its monitoring of the methods used to assess workplace risks and the correct use of collective and personal protection equipment (PPE) in the coming period. In the context of SIOD’s fight against economic exploitation, poor safety performance will be considered a red flag for social dumping going forward.

Flash Inspections in 2026

Once again this year, sectoral flash inspections will be an important component of SIOD’s operations. The following sectors will be receiving particular attention:

  • January: Taxis
  • March: Construction
  • May: Transportation + moving companies
  • July: Hospitality
  • September: Green industry
  • December: Security

During a flash inspection, inspectors from multiple services may visit a company at the same time, for example from the labour inspectorate, the National Employment Office, RIZIV-INAMI or NSSO. As these inspections are primarily informative and preventive in nature, they are announced in advance. If the inspectors do encounter any serious or repeat violations, however, this will result in a report.
To find out what to expect from the inspectors, you can consult the checklists on the SIOD website.
