Introduction to first aid for designated persons
Inhoud
Do you represent an SME:
- with fewer than 50 employees and limited occupational risks?
or - with fewer than 20 employees and moderate occupational risks?
In either case, there must always be someone close by who can provide first aid. This introduction to first aid equips you or a designated person with basic knowledge of first aid.
Basic first aid steps
Is a colleague feeling unwell? Has an employee fallen victim to an accident at work? After receiving this training, the designated person will be able to apply the basic steps of first aid.
This training course provides answers to the following questions:
- What should I do if vital signs start to fail? And how do I resuscitate someone?
- How should I deal with life-threatening situations, such as a heart attack or shortness of breath?
- What should I do in the event of injuries such as burns, bruises or fractures?
Reading material
Participants will receive the IDEWE guide ‘First steps in first aid’, which they can consult in the event of an accident at work or a sudden illness at work.
What does the law say?
According to the Belgian Employee Wellbeing Code (Book I, Title 5), you or your employees do not need to take a full first aid training course. However, it is necessary for designated first aiders to know the basics of first aid. Therefore, we recommend that you let them take part in this half-day introductory course. And have them repeat it every three years.
