Influenza vaccination for employees

One in ten people fall ill with flu each year. Vaccination can help prevent your employees from catching and spreading the virus. It’s an efficient way for you to keep your team healthy. IDEWE will provide the vaccines and ensure a safe, smooth vaccination process for your employees.

Why is getting vaccinated against flu a good idea?

Influenza is more than just a seasonal illness. It is a contagious infectious disease that can strike down your employees unexpectedly with symptoms such as high fever, headache, muscle aches and extreme fatigue. Sick employees generally take one to three weeks to fully recover.

Vaccination is the most effective form of prevention against influenza.
Offer your employees the opportunity to get vaccinated against flu:

  • Prevent unnecessary sick leave
  • Protect colleagues and vulnerable people in and outside your organisation
  • Reduce the risk of serious complications for people who do fall ill
  • Actively contribute to a healthy working environment and support the wellbeing of your employees
  • Reduce costs due to sickness absence

Is flu vaccination at work a legal duty?

In Belgium, vaccination against flu is not mandatory. However, it is strongly recommended for people with chronic illness, the elderly and pregnant women. These groups are more likely to suffer complications. Vaccination is also a good idea for healthcare workers and employees who often interact with vulnerable populations.

How does IDEWE handle workplace flu vaccinations?

You can have IDEWE’s medical team vaccinate your employees against flu.  Order your vaccines in six steps:

  1. Log in via my.idewe.be or ElectrA. Go to ‘Personnel Management’ and click on the ‘Vaccine Order’ tab.
  2. Complete the order information. That way we know who to contact if we have any questions.
  3. Choose your registration method. Register all your employees who’ve expressed an interest. You can also share a link so they can do so themselves.
  4. Indicate where you want your vaccination to take place. You can choose between vaccination at one of IDEWE’s locations, at your workplace or a combination of these options.
  5. Choose how to make your employees’ vaccination appointments.
You can either schedule your employees’ vaccination appointments yourself or have us invite employees to make their own appointments.
  6. Place your order.

Our experts will contact you about the practical arrangements.

What can you do to prevent flu?

Want to fight flu? Keep these tips in mind:

  • Promote good hand hygiene and sneezing and coughing etiquette
    • Use paper towels after washing hands instead of a shared cloth towel.
    • Raise awareness about the importance of washing hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser.
  • Clean door handles, phones and light switches regularly.
  • Have employees with flu symptoms stay home. This helps prevent the virus from spreading.
  • Encourage a healthy lifestyle. Sufficient sleep, healthy nutrition and exercise all contribute to a stronger immune system.
